A PLACE TO CALL HOME

Independence House is a unique housing model designed to maximize independence

while also offering safety and support to adults with developmental disabilities.

Each resident has their own personal suite consisting of a living room, bedroom, bathroom and convenience kitchen. The layout allows residents to have privacy in their own spaces, but also encourages social engagement through the common areas of the home. The common areas consist of a spacious living room, kitchen, dining room, laundry room, and a screened in lanai. Residents can also unleash their creativity in the detached art building. Safety features such as a fire sprinkler system and an emergency generator are also included and each unit has independent temperature controls.

Nearby, residents can enjoy access to adult day training programs, supported employment, and art nonprofits.

SUPPORTIVE PROPERTY MANAGEMENT

Through a fixed monthly fee, residents at Independence Place and their families can enjoy peace of mind that the property will be well maintained for their full enjoyment. The fee will include:

  • Utilities

  • Basic Cable and Internet

  • Maintenance and Repairs

  • Replacement Reserves

  • Landscaping Services

SUPPORT SERVICES

We know that each resident will have a different level of need for support and different funding sources for their services. Each resident can bring in their own existing support service providers through Medicaid Waiver or they can choose a private-pay caregiver employed by CASL.

Ultimately, our goal is to ensure the safety of each resident while maximizing their independence and quality of life.

BUILDING A COMMUNITY

From Independence House to Independence Place:

A Planned Residential Community.

Independence House is the first stage of developing Independence Place, a special planned community to provide safe and supportive housing options for adults with developmental disabilities.

CASL owns the 2.8 acre parcel adjacent to Independence House and is in the process of developing a site plan for the parcel that will add additional supported living units ranging in size and style to meet the growing needs of adults with disabilities. Our goal is to provide a naturally therapeutic setting that will allow residents to build lifelong friendships, increase self-sufficiency and independence, and ensure comfort and safety so they may age in place with a great quality of life.

Independence House is more than just a new house!

It is an opportunity for each resident to live independently in a safe, supportive home to call their own where they can age in place. It is also an opportunity for their aging parents to have the peace of mind of the ultimate estate plan for their child.
